Drefach Felindre Gardening Club
The Drefach Felindre Club meets at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of each month in the Red Dragon Hall in Drefach Felindre. Visitors are welcome at a cost of £2 per person that includes refreshments at the end of the evening following the talk and a raffle. You can see the programme here.
The next talk – ‘One Man Went to Mow‘ with Michelle Laine – is on Wednesday, 1 July. Dyfed Permaculture Trust has farmed the holding straddling the hamlets of Cwmpengraig and Penboyr for 35 years. Spectacular wildflower meadows are an important feature of this organic, sustainable farm. Michelle and Phil have been involved for 20 years. Both skilled scythers, they use hand farming methods to manage the land for biodiversity and yield.
Llechryd & District Gardening Club
Llechryd & District Gardening Club welcomes visitors to its meetings and members from other clubs regularly attend. You can see the programme here. The entry charge for visitors to meetings is £3.00 per person, which includes the talk and refreshments. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in Boncath Hall, SA37 0JL.
The next talk – ‘Soft Fruit Gardening‘ with Liz Zorab – is on Wednesday, 12 August. The talk is a celebration of soft fruit. It includes all the usual suspects and others that are less well-known, but are easy to grow and that we may already have in our gardens. Propagation techniques, hints and tips as well as some favourite preserving methods. Liz Zorab is an award winning gardener and video maker. She is also a best-selling author, a regular gardening expert for BBC Radio Wales, and writes a fortnightly column for Amateur Gardening magazine. Liz champions sustainable, low-impact and low-effort gardening practices. She blends ornamental gardening with food growing, creating gardens that feed the body and soul. On her YouTube channel she shares real-life gardening and attainable gardening ideas. Her videos have had millions of views around the world.
Been and Gone…
Gelli Uchaf Garden 14 February to 28 June 2026
This 1½ acre garden complements a C17 Longhouse and 11-acre smallholding. In the garden trees and shrubs are underplanted with thousands of snowdrops, crocus, cyclamen, and daffodils, together with many rhododendrons, skimmias, clematis, rambling roses and hydrangeas. There are several wildflower hay meadows, wildlife ponds, stream and shepherd’s hut to explore beyond the main garden. Admission £6, parking limited.
The last opportunity to visit the garden in 2026 will be the following weekend, for either 10.30 am or 2.30 pm arrival:

The owners will also be happy to arrange bespoke open days for pre-arranged visits for groups of a minimum of 10, and up to a maximum of 20 visitors, during this same period from February 14th to June 28th.

Ceredigion & District Growers Plant Fairs in West Wales
The Ceredigion and District Growers Association organise an annual diary of Spring/Summer Plant Fairs, mainly in Ceredigion. The next event is the Ceredigion Garden and Craft Festival to be held on Sunday 24th and Bank Holiday Monday 25th May 10am-4pm in Albion Square, Aberaeron. With over 70 stalls selling all things plant and garden alongside crafts, food and so much more, the even is held during 2 days over the late May Bank holiday weekend in the picturesque town of Aberaeron on the Cardiganshire coast.
The following and last plant fair of the year will be the Llanllyr NGS Open Garden and Plant Fair to be held at Llanllyr Gardens, Talsarn, Ceredigion SA48 8QB on Sunday, 21 June 2-6pm. This large early C19 garden sits on the site of a medieval nunnery, and has been renovated and replanted since 1989. The large pool, bog garden, formal water garden, rose and shrub borders, gravel gardens, rose arbour, allegorical labyrinth and mount all exhibit fine plantsmanship, with year-round appeal using interesting and unusual plants. As this is a charity open day for the NGS there is a fee to visit the garden, but entry to the Plant Fair is free.
Winter Gardening Weekend 2026
Drawing visitors from a wide area, this event offers an opportunity to the novice and the very experienced gardener and grower to start planning for the spring. The free event will take place on Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd February in the Tysul Hall in Llandysul between 10am and 5pm.
Each day of the four-day event, experts will give talks on a variety of growing and gardening topics including everyone’s favourite “Hellebores”. In the Main Hall there will be stands selling a great variety of plants and garden accessories. On the Stage, Farmyard Nurseries, Llandysul’s RHS gold medal winner, will once again create a wonderful display to inspire you for the coming year.
Lampeter Seed Library
Seed Swap on Saturday 28 February from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Lampeter Market. Please feel free to bring along any saved seeds you have grown locally that you’d like to share.
This year, there are new seeds from the Wales Seed Hub to further increase the genetic diversity of the collection.
Membership in the Seed Library is free, and everyone is welcome.
