Tender Shoots Garden Club Network Zoom Talks
The Tender Shoots Garden Club Network is a national collective of UK garden clubs set up by a novice gardener (Indy Rana) during Covid so clubs could work together, have joint online events, share tips & advice, as well as trips to see gardens share discounts, plus much more. Gardening talks are held over the autumn and winter months via Zoom. Invidivuals and clubs are very welcome to join in, it’s open to anyone, there’s no charge to attend, see the ‘Programme‘ page for zoom link & further information.
Courses and Events at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre
Denmark Farm Conservation Centre offers a range of courses throughout the year in natural crafts, ecology, conservation and sustainable living. For those who don’t have enough to do in their own gardens (!), there are also garden volunteering opportunities.
Llandysul Gardening Weekend 16-19 February 2023
Now running for four days instead of three, the very popular Llandysul Gardening Weekend makes a welcome return after two years. The event, organised by Farmyard Nurseries and held in Tysul Hall in Llandysul, features three different talks each day, plant displays, a wide range of plants for sale, and plenty of tea, coffee and cake.
Lampeter Seed Library Seed Swap 11 March 2023
Lampeter Seed Library was set up to save open pollinated seeds adapted to grow in the specific climate and landscape of West Wales to enable more food to be successfully grown in the area, and to save local and heritage varieties (although not exclusively) that are possibly no longer available in commercial seed catalogues.
The seed swap for edibles and pollinators will take place on 11 March 2023 from 10am to 12.30pm at the Lampeter People’s Market, held in the University Car Park off College Street.
Ceredigion Growers Plant Fair 23 April 2023
Ceredigion Growers Plant Fair will be held this year on 23 April from 10.30am to 3pm at Rhosygilwen near Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire. This is an opportunity to buy plants direct from. the growers, and wander round the gardens at Rhosygilwen, with coffee and cake on offer.
Cae Hir Gardens Plant Fair 30 April and 1 May 10am-4pm
This is a two-day plant fair at Cae Hir Gardens, Cribyn, SA48 7NG, organised by the Ceredigion and District Growers Association. It will be held on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May 2023 from 10am to 4pm each day. A wide range of nurseries will sell perennials, bulbs, shrubs, indoor and outdoor plants, and there will be other garden related stalls. Refreshments available, ample parking and entry to garden.
Llandeilo and District Gardening Club 4 May Meeting
Cothi Gardeners members are invited to attend the meeting on Thursday 4 May at the Vestry, Capel Newydd, Crescent Road, Llandeilo, SA19 6HN at 7.30pm. Bob Brown, the founder of Cotswold Garden Flowers in Evesham, will be talking about paeonies, described by the RHS as “slow growing but rewarding aristocratic plants with a brief but keenly anticipated” flowering period.
There are also vacancies for a day trip to Stockton Bury Gardens. The coach will leave Jones International depot, Llandeilo (time to be confirmed) on Thursday May 18th 2023, calling at The Old Railway Line Garden Centre and then on to Stockton Bury Gardens. The trip which includes the cost of the coach and entry to Stockton Bury Gardens is £33.00 per person. If you are interested please contact Denise Durham .
Gardening Almanac at Mwldan, Cardigan
Gardening Almanac is a new series of talks to be held at Mwldan, Cardigan. A range of speakers will be invited to come and share their knowledge and expertise in particular areas, be it growing your own food, cultivating magnificent blooms, nurturing the wildlife on your plot, and beyond.
Wildlife in Your Garden – 20 May at 2pm
Yusef Samari is a local ecologist who works for West Wales Biodiversity Information Centre and runs local nature walks around Cardigan. He’ll be looking at the types of wildlife you can expect to find in your garden in this part of the world and how to work with that wildlife to achieve the best possible results in your garden and for the environment.
Ceredigion Garden & Craft Festival 28 and 29 May 10am-4pm
With over 70 stalls selling all things plant and garden alongside crafts, food and so much more, this is the flagship event of the year. for the Ceredigion & District Growers Association. Held for 2 days over the late May Bank holiday weekend in the picturesque town of Aberaeron on the Cardiganshire coast it’s a reason to book a holiday if you live further afield, or to set aside a day of sun, sea and serious shopping if local!
Llechryd and District Gardening Club 40th Anniversary Celebration
To celebrate the Club’s 40th anniversary, Fergus Garrett of Great Dixter will present a talk on ‘Great Dixter, Past, Present & Future’ on 9 August at 7.30pm in Boncath Village Hall, Boncath SA37 0JL. This talk on Christopher Lloyd’s iconic English Garden is sure to be popular so entry is by TICKET ONLY.
Cothi Gardeners members are invited to enjoy this wonderful opportunity to hear one of Britain’s foremost gardeners speak on the Great Dixter legacy and his vision for the future of the Great Dixter Charitable Trust. There will also be a plant sale and refreshments, and Boncath Hall is accessible, has toilets and good seating capacity. Visitors are asked to car share, as parking will be at a premium.
Tickets are limited and can be purchased very easily online at a cost of £5.00 each. Payment is by BACS after your ticket is confirmed. Tickets will then be delivered by email to your inbox.

National Botanic Garden of Wales Evening Opening for the NGS
This is taking place on Saturday 26 August 6pm-8pm.
Tickets cost £15 and include include a talk-tour, nibbles and a glass of wine.
